Barbara Wright-Brown-Smith

Barbara Wright-Brown-Smith, age 75, of Hardinsburg, passed away on January 23, 2026, at University of Louisville Hospital surrounded by her loved ones.

Barbara was born on June 23, 1950, in New Albany, to Charles and Thelma (Hensley) Wright. She had a creative spirit and loved painting and crafts.

She is survived by her children: Eddie Brown and Lorena of Hardinsburg; Jason Brown and Michelle of Depauw Matthew Smith and Alexis of Hardinsburg. She is also survived by her stepchildren: Lee Smith of New Albany; Aaron Smith and Danielle of Leitchfield, Kentucky; Shane Smith of Indianapolis; Carrie Martin and Cole of English; and Melissa Straley and Andrew of Hardinsburg. Barbara leaves behind 20 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, all of whom she loved dearly.

She is also survived by her siblings: Leroy Wright, Mary Murphy, Pearl Strange, Alma Adkinsson, and Patty Becht.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Ray Gilbert and Donna Stiller.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, January 28, at McAdams Mortuary. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 29, at the funeral home, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM until the time of the service at 1:00 PM. Brother George Key will officiate. Burial will follow in Hardinsburg Cemetery at a later date.
