Bertha Lea Mink

Bertha Lea Mink, age 86, of Paoli, passed away on June 7, 2026, at Mitchell Manor Nursing Home.

She was born in Paoli on December 31, 1939, to Delbert Cook and Mary Easter (Houston) Cook.

She worked as a receptionist at Bedford Medical Center and Hillcrest Manufacturing, formerly of Paoli.

She married John Riley Fancher on September 18, 1964, who preceded her in death on September 22, 1992. She later married Merrill Dean Ellis on February 3, 1969, who preceded her in death on May 6, 1979. She then married James Mink on April 4, 1998, who preceded her in death on July 26, 2019.

Bertha was a member of the Country Clickers Square Dancers of Marengo, and she enjoyed quilting, fishing, and going to yard sales.

She is survived by her daughters, Debby Rose Butler (Sonny) of Paoli, Ursula Underwood (Randall) of Paoli, and Lea "Elaine" Vermillion of Paoli; her sons, Johnny Lee Fancher (Diane) of Paoli and Tony Earl Fancher (Lori) of Tucson, Arizona; her sisters, Janet Riley of Paoli, Barbara Duke of Paoli, and Jessie Smith of Paoli; her brothers, Glenn Merrill Cook (Thelma) of Paoli, and George Cook (Margie) of Paoli; several grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her son, Bernard Dean Ellis; her sisters, Mildred Underhill and June Swanson; and her brother, Arthur Cook.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 11, 2026, at McAdams Mortuary.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, June 12, 2026, at the funeral home with burial to follow in Cook's Chapel Cemetery.
