Betty Lou Jones passed away after a short illness at Bloomington IU Health Hospice House on October 17, 2024. She was born April 27, 1947 in English, Indiana to the late Fred and Fern Moore. Betty was a 1965 graduate of English Sterling High School. She married Gary Jones on July 2, 1966 and he survives her. She is also survived by her daughter, Michele (Missy) Bostock and grandsons, Ian (Audrey) and Cohen Bostock (Anissa Lynn). She was able to see her great-granddaughter, Swayze Bostock before she passed away.
Her surviving brother and sisters are George Moore, Anna Moore, Nellie Bodmer, and Mary Crecelius (Bob). Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a half-brother, Marvin Moore, two half-sisters, Hester Merrill and Ruby Roe, an older brother, Donald Moore and two infant brothers, Scott Moore and Samuel Moore, as well as one older sister, Anneitta Moore.
Betty loved cooking, sewing, and working in her flower beds. Her love for helping others was evident in her love for scouting and in her babysitting. She had thirty-six children in her role as a babysitter over thirty-six years. She loved them very much. In her thirty-five years in scouting, she was a troop leader, and an outdoor cooking trainer and served on the council for two terms. She was a natural giver of her time and love. She will be missed by everyone who knew her.
The visitation will be held on Sunday, October 20, 2024 from 4-8 pm at McAdams Mortuary. The funeral will be held on Monday, October 21, 2024 at 11 am at the funeral home. Bro.
