Betty L. Lewis

Betty L. Bennett Lewis passed peacefully at Springs Valley Meadows on September 18, 2026, she was born on July 16, 1939, to Ores G. & Perline (Stotts) Bennett in French Lick, IN. Betty married Monty Newlin with whom she had two children, Jon Michael Newlin and Lisa Dawn Newlin. She later married Robert Jan Lewis, both Monty and Jan preceded her in death. Betty worked at Throop Elementary School over forty years and enjoyed multiple generations of children and families. She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, working in her flower garden, shopping and walking in Maria Radcliff Park with friends.

 Preceding Betty in death was both parents, both husbands, and a sister Carol Bennett. 

She is survived by one Son, Jon Michael Newlin (Carla) of French Lick, IN one Daughter Lisa Dawn Newlin of Madison, IN, Grandson’s Jason Newlin, Isaac Newlin, and Nathaniel Menchaca. Granddaughter’s Sophia, Ruqayyah, Salihah, Mayytha, and Layla Jasem, and Nikita Brown. Also surviving Betty are Great Grandchildren Memphis and Arlo Newlin, Cutler and Carston Brown, and Jesse and Gracee Menchaca, Maya Al Zarooni, Malaak, Theyab, and Raya Al Khoori, Salama Al Zaabi, Salem Al Zahmi, Olivia and Nixon Newlin, and Westen Pendley. Brother Leon Bennett (Patty) Of Mitchell, IN and Sister Mary Vance (Lowell) of Louisville, KY, nieces Lynnette Lacny, Kathy Murphy, Kristie Decker, and Sandra Daughtery, several great nieces and nephews also survive Betty.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th, from 4-7pm at McAdams Mortuary, Paoli, IN. The funeral will be at 1pm on Monday, September 28th at the funeral home. Bro. Harvey McAdams will officiate. The burial will be at the Paoli Community Cemetery. For condolences visit mcadamsmortuay.com
