Carolyn Faye Hamblin, age 82, of Brownstown, formerly of Salem and Paoli, passed away on July 30, 2026, at Hoosier Health & Living of Brownstown.
She was born on August 30, 1943, in London, Kentucky, to Estel and Gladys (Johnson) Hamblin. Carolyn was a retired factory worker and was the former owner and operator of Dillard’s Restaurant in Paoli. She enjoyed quilting, hunting, and making crafts. Carolyn was known for her feisty, sassy personality and will be remembered for her independent spirit.
She is survived by her daughters, Lola Garloch (Mike) of Lanesville and Faye Collins of English; sons, Wayne Gilbert (Monica) of Sellersburg and Billy Dillard (Brandi Anderson) of Seymour; former daughter-in-law, Robin Fullen of Salem; grandchildren, Dustin Garloch, Brooks Garloch, Shyannah Cortner, Andrew Yeomans, Starla Yeomans, Taylor Sheley, Mason Dillard, Allison Dillard, Keeley Stingel, Waylin Gilbert, Kailyn Edwards, Ben Gilbert, Phillip Gilbert, Bently Gilbert, and Malleree Fullen; several great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Lois Moraca, Margie Speckner, Dee Osborne, Laura “Cricket” Burke, and Wanda Gregory; brothers, Rex, Bill, and Don Hamblin; granddaughter, Teaha Minttendorf; and son-in-law, Shawn Collins.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 18, 2026, at 7:00 p.m. at McAdams Mortuary. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until the time of the service. Arrangements are being handled by McAdams Mortuary. Condolences may be shared at mcadamsmortuary.com.
