Dorothy Shepherd

Dorothy Elizabeth Shepherd age 86 of Hardinsburg, passed away June 27, 2025 at her home. She was born July 28, 1938 in Lexington, KY to parents Fred J. & Mary Lou (Johnson) Hogrewe. She married David H. Shepherd May 14, 1960. Dorothy was a retired accountant from Thorn-Orwick Division of Old Castle Precast Concrete. She was a member of Valeene Wesleyan Church, where she served as treasurer for several years. She also volunteered at the Orange County Center for Women’s Ministries. Dorothy loved spending time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed crocheting, shopping, and reading.

She is survived by:

Sons- Mark D.(Rose) Shepherd of Pekin, Michael W. (JoLove) Shepherd of New Salisbury, and Nathan L.(Anita) Shepherd of Mitchell

Grandchildren- Laura Shepherd, JoAnna Shepherd, Andrew Shepherd, Alexandra Shepherd, Miya Scott, Jessica Elliott, Amanda Busick and Nathan Shepherd

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; step-mother who raised her, Lucille Hogrewe; son, David M. Shepherd, and brothers, Norman Heitlauf, Fred J. & Marvin Hogrewe.

Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Sunday, June 29, at McAdams Mortuary. The funeral will be 11 am on Monday, June 30, at the funeral home. Bro. David Manship will officiate. Burial will be in Paoli Community Cemetery. For condolences, visit mcadamsmortuary.com.
