Louis "Louie" Strange

Louis “Louie” Strange, 78, of Paoli, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, June 21, 2025.

Born November 17, 1946, in Paoli, he was the son of Frank Strange and Hazel Pluris. On May 22, 1965, Louie married Linda Lawson and, just last month, the two celebrated 60 wonderful years together.

Louie spent 36 years with Kimball International in French Lick. He started on the piano-stringing line and became a respected foreman, known for treating every co-worker like family. After Kimball, he gave another decade to the Indiana State Highway Department before retiring.

Retirement never slowed him down. Louie kept busy, helping with the Paoli Presbyterian “Fish Wagon,” woodworking projects, owned a cobbler shop and was forever on the hunt for a great meat special to feed family and friends. He served on the Paoli Town Board (1995-1999) and was the former chairman of the Orange County Democratic Party and in 2024 was awarded the Legacy Award for service and commitment. He was a member of Paoli Presbyterian Church, where he often gave the opening prayer. His prayers sometimes came with a story or a bit of humor, and they had a way of grounding the moment into something real. Simple, sincere and full of love, Louie’s prayers will be deeply missed.

Wife- Linda Strange of Paoli

Son- Shawn Strange (Carrie Roach) of Paoli

Daughter- Kristin (Aaron) Kellams of French Lick

Grandchildren Keagan Strange (Jules), Ian Strange, and Emerson Kellams, Bonus Grandchildren Haley (Zach) South, Hunter, Hogan and Hope Roach.

Great-grandchildren Melody Duvall Stange, Stella Strange and Wyatt South.

Louie was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Strange.

Visitation for Louie Strange will be Tuesday, June 24, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., at Paoli Presbyterian Church. Funeral service will be on Wednesday, June 25, 11:00 a.m. at the church, and additional visitation after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday until the service time. Officiating will be Rev. Bob Turner. Cremation will follow—arrangements entrusted to McAdams Mortuary.
