Michael Elliott McBride, 82, of Corydon, Indiana, went home to the Lord on November 1, 2025, surrounded by his loving wife and children.
Michael was a Valentine's baby, born on February 14, 1943, at home in Paoli, Indiana, to Clifford Lee McBride and Helen Marie Elliott McBride. He was a 1961 graduate of Paoli High School and later married his high school sweetheart, Bonnie June White McBride.
After graduation, Michael joined the National Guard before heading north to Indianapolis, where he held various jobs-including working for Frito-Lay and serving as a groundskeeper at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway golf course. Before long, he returned to his home town of Paoli, where he found his true calling with the Farm Bureau Co-op.
Michael began his Co-op career in Orange County and went on to serve in Owen, Howard, Miami, and Harrison Counties. He retired as General Manager of the Harrison County Co-op due to health complications.
Together, Michael and Bonnie raised three children and one heavenly angel.
Michael is survived by his devoted wife of over 60 years; his brother, Fred McBride of Noblesville; daughters Michelle McBride of Bloomington and Beverly Hughes of Memphis; and son Darian (Melanie) McBride of Nashville. He was a proud papaw to Jonathan Stewart, Noelle-Christine Stewart, Matthew McBride, Nicholas McBride, Jesse (Sydney) McBride, Seth (Mary) Hughes, and Neal (Desiree) Hughes, and a great-papaw to Gage, Sarah, Jonathan Daniel Jr., Walker, and Colestin. He is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Bonnie Christine McBride; brothers Gary McBride and David McBride; and great-grandson Elliott.
Michael was a lifelong member of the Methodist church. He will be remembered for his quiet strength, gentle humor, and deep love for the outdoors. He was an avid deer hunter and fisherman who found peace in nature and joy in the changing seasons. When he wasn't outside, he could often be found tinkering in his garage, fixing or creating something with his own hands. An Indiana University Hoosiers fan, Michael rarely missed a game and cheered his team on with pride. Above all, he was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud papaw whose faith and love for his family will forever be cherished.
The visitation for Michael E. McBride will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025 from 10am - 1pm at McAdams Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 1 pm at the funeral home. Bro. Harvey McAdms will officiate. The burial will be in the Paoli Community cemetery. For condolences visit mcadamsmortuary.com
