Michael Norman Smetzer

Michael Norman Smetzer, 61, of Paoli, passed away August 29, 2026, at his home.

He was born January 1, 1965, in Martinsville, Indiana, to Dan Smetzer and Patricia (Martin) Smetzer. He married Sharon (Pratt) Smetzer on July 10, 2010.

Michael was a former employee of Collett’s Gas Station in Paoli and attended Paoli Friends Church. He enjoyed music and had a special love for animals, especially his faithful dog, Evie.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Smetzer of Paoli; parents, Dan and Patricia Smetzer of Bloomfield; two daughters, Havanna Artrip of Paoli and Brianna Bird of French Lick; son, Marcus Hutslar of French Lick; sister, Vicki Simms (Sherman) of Mooresville; two brothers, Curtis Smetzer (Carla) of Paoli and Danny Smetzer (Misty) of Georgia; sister-in-law, Kathy Smetzer of Clayton; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Rick Smetzer.
