Nancy Kay Murphy

Nancy Kay Murphy, 74, of Paoli, passed away January 7, 2026, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital in New Albany. She was born December 10, 1951, in Paoli, to Edgar and Elsie (Attebury) Wells.

Nancy married Jerry Murphy on January 24, 1970, and together they spent 56 years building a life rooted in family, hard work, and resilience. She was sharp, honest, and unimpressed by nonsense. Her grandsons were her joy and her soft spot. They were her world.

Nancy worked several jobs over the years and she and husband, Jerry ran H.B. Vance Fur and Root. Nancy loved the outdoors, mushroom hunting, fishing, and she enjoyed cross stitching and quilting.

She is survived by her husband, Jerry Murphy of Paoli; her son, Shane Murphy and his wife Amanda; her grandsons, Waylon, Major, and Knox Murphy; her siblings, Rebecca England, John Wells, and Jerry Wells and Amy Lowe, all of Paoli; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lisa Ann; and her siblings, Cleon Wells, Margaret Gabbard, Patty Sanders, and Bobby Wells.

Visitation will be held Saturday, January 10, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McAdams Mortuary. Funeral services will be Sunday at 1:00 p.m., with the funeral home open after 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery. Condolences may be shared at mcadamsmortuary.com.
