Rex Wayne Stewart

Rex Wayne Stewart, age 68 of Paoli, passed away February 3, 2026 in Louisville, KY. He was born on November 8, 1957 in Salem to Cecil and Mary (Padgett) Stewart. Rex married Sharon (Hazelwood) Stewart on February 28, 1998.

Rex proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, where he spent ten years working in aircraft fuel operations. Following his military service, he was employed at General Electric in Louisville. He later retired from his work as a truck driver. Rex was also a member of the Paoli American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Sharon Stewart; mother, Mary Stewart; children, Johnathan Stewart, Jessica Stewart; Joseph S. Shawler, Jon C. Shawler, Brandy Gerkin, Kerri Barnes, and Melanie Gehl; grandchildren, Keighen, Kennedy, Kash Shawler, Felicity, Natalie Shawler, Jayla Brewer, Elaina Gerkin; siblings, Gary, Danny, Kenneth Blevins, Patricia Jones, Max Stewart, Sandra Hammond, Mike Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his father, Cecil Stewart

The visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 10, from 11am - 1:30pm at McAdams Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 1:30pm at the funeral home. The burial will be in the Providence Cemetery. Military Honors provided by Orleans American Legion. For condolences visit mcadamsmortuary.com.
