Richard Leo Beaty

Richard Leo Beaty, age 97, of West Baden, passed away on November 1, 2025, at his home. He was born on October 8, 1928, in West Baden to Ernest and Ola Mae (Young) Beaty. Richard married Ellen Marie Newlin Beaty on February 11, 1956. He was a veteran of the United States Army, proudly serving in the Korean War. Richard retired from the Orange County Highway Department, where he worked as a truck driver. He was a member of the French Lick American Legion and attended South Liberty Church in French Lick. He also served 8 years as an Orange County Commissioner and West Baden precinct committeeman. Richard also served for many years with Hoosier Uplands as a board member, dedicating his time and commitment to the organization.

Survivors include his wife, Ellen Beaty of West Baden; son, Rick (Michelle "Shelley") Beaty of West Baden; granddaughters, Tiffani (Brady) McGee, and Kaci (Thomas) Stephens; great-grandchildren, Griffin McGee, Graden McGee, and Arianna Stephens; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, infant Mary Ernestine Beaty, Lillian Cave, Juanita Newlin, Joyce Jones, Bonnie Kay Deweese, and Connie Mae Hollen; and brothers, Marvin, Jack, and Randall Beaty.

The visitation for Richard L. Beaty will be held on Sunday, November 9, 2025 from 12:30 - 3pm at McAdams Mortuary. The funeral will follow at 3pm at the funeral home. Graden McGee will officiate. The burial will be in the Mt. Lenanon Cemetery.
