Robert Wayne Walker, of Paoli, Indiana, born Jan 21, 1954 in Meade County Kentucky to Robert Edward and Edna (Shacklette) Walker, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on March 4 at Deaconess memorial hospital in Jasper, Indiana.
Robert was a man known for his quiet strength, kind heart, and gentle spirit. He spent much of his working life as a truck driver for Kimball’s, where he dedicated 25 years of service. During his time there, he was recognized with numerous awards for his professionalism and commitment to safety, including an impressive 3 million safe miles driven in 2015.
Those who knew Robert knew he was a quiet man, but also a gentle and goofy soul who loved making those around him smile. He was the type of person who would give you the shirt off his back without hesitation. His kindness, humility, and steady presence made a lasting impact on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
Robert is survived by his children: Erica Walker and Christopher Walker of Pennsylvania; Samantha Walker of Radcliff, Kentucky; Kim Lawyer of Orleans; and Stephanie (Alan) Parks of Jasper; brothers, Larry Walker of Rhode Island & Danny Walker of Louisville, KY.
He was a proud grandfather to Cody (Zoe) Riley of Orleans, Dakota Riley of Paoli, and Logan Henry of West Baden.
Robert was also blessed with several great-grandchildren: Cloe, Karsyn, Casen, Lukas, Finnleigh, Lincoln, and Crue, all of whom brought him great joy.
He is preceded in death by his parents and son-n-law, Randy Lawyer.
Robert made life more fun for everyone around him. Whether through his quiet humor, his goofy moments, or simply the comfort of his presence, he brought warmth and laughter to his family’s lives. Those who loved him know how lucky they were to have spent the time they did with him. Though he will be deeply missed, the memories, stories, and joy he gave to his family will be carried with them always. Arrangements are being handled by McAdams Mortuary.
