Violet June Griffis went to her heavenly home on Monday, April 24 at 5:25 AM. She died at her home after a lengthy illness. She was born in Orange County on June 18, 1941 to Walter and Minnie (Pirtle) Manship who preceded her in death.

Children- Rex Allen (Ramona), Tina England (Rick), Kristie Clark & Raven Gillespie (Kyle)
Sister- Linda Key
Brother- Gail Manship (Diane)
Grandchildren- Chantel Deaton, Zander Gillespie, Carter Gillespie, Breezy Gillespie, Jeremy Allen, Shane Allen, and Gavin Clark
Several great-grandchildren
Along with her parents, Violet is preceded in death by brothers, Harold Ray Manship, Russell Manship, and Donnie Manship, and sisters, Betty Strange, Norma Haycox, and Barbara Lampkins. Also preceding her was her first husband, Paul Allen, and her second husband, John Villano.
Violet & her late husband John were the owner and operators of Briarwood Furniture, National Waterbedding & Coyote Springs Restaurant. She was the sole proprietor of House of Herbs. Violet obtained a Doctor of Naturopathy and a Master Herbalist Degree from the Trinity School of Natural Health. She also received her certification in Iridology from the Institute of the National Association of Certified Health Professionals.
Violet was multi-talented. She was a poet, writer, choir director, church treasurer, youth leader, ladies' group leader, Bible school director, quartet singer, piano player, guitar player, excellent cook, home decorator, mother, grandmother, and greatest of all, Christian. Violet was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She was dearly loved and loved dearly.
The funeral for Violet Griffis will be 2 pm Wednesday, April 26 at Little Mission Church of Hardinsburg. Visitation for Violet Griffis will be Wednesday, April 26 from 11 am until the service time at 2 pm at the church. Officiating will be Bro. George Key and Bro David Manship.
