Curtis Wayne Murphy, age 84 of Hardinsburg, passed away on December 3, 2023, at Harrison Healthcare Center in Corydon. Born on November 3, 1939, in Marengo, to John Elmer Murphy and Edna Marie (Hendrix) Murphy, Curtis led a life marked by dedication, community, and love. Curtis retired from GE of Louisville and attended Rock Springs Community Church in Hardinsburg.
He is survived by his daughters Tina Crecelius and Ron of Corydon, Kim Ogden and Chad of Palmyra & Libby Hilyard and Cody of Fredericksburg, along with his brothers, Jerry Murphy and Nancy and Terry Murphy and Joanne all of Paoli. Curtis leaves behind six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Curtis also leaves behind Leroy Wright of Hardinsburg who was his hunting and fishing buddy for over 50 years. Avid IU basketball fans, Curtis and Leroy hosted Coach Bobby Knight on many ruffled grouse hunts over the years. A skilled fisherman, Curtis generously provided fish fries for the community, showcasing his love for bringing people together. He was a gardener, hunter, and lover of the outdoors, he found joy in nature's embrace.
Curtis is preceded in death by his son Joey Murphy, sisters Shirley Mosier & Elsie Jarvis, and brothers- James, Harold, Delbert "Frog" and Larry Paul Murphy.
Friends are invited to pay their respects on Saturday, December 9, with visitation at the funeral home from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM. The funeral service, officiated by Brother Mark Manship, will commence at 1:00 PM, followed by burial at Union Chapel Cemetery of Milltown.
