Melvin "Bud" Payton

Melvin "Bud" Payton, 89, passed away November 26 at his home in Paoli. He was born May 30 ,1931 in Paoli, to parents, Lawrence & Blanche (Underwood) Payton. He married Laura L. Hudson. "Bud" retired from Paoli Inc. formerly of Orleans and was a Walmart Greeter for many years. He also was an avid gardener, carpenter & thrift store enthusiast. 

Survivors include: Wife: Laura L. Payton of Paoli

Daughter- Melva Grimes (Roy) of Paoli  

Son- Jim Payton (Linda) of Marengo

8 Grandchildren

Several great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins. 

Sister-n-laws- Brenda Edwards & Judy Underhill

He is preceded in death by: parents, sons- Jerry Payton & Billy Gene Payton; brother- Russell Payton; sister- Ruth Payton-Stroud & infant siblings. 

Funeral will be 1pm Monday, November 30 at McAdams Mortuary. Bro. Mark Manship will officiate. Burial will be in Cooks Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10am-1pm the service time on Monday at the funeral home. Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, guests will be required to wear mask and practice social distancing (6 ft). If you are showing symptoms of illness (fever or chills, cough, shortness of breath or difficulty breathing, fatigue, muscle or body aches, headache, new loss of taste or smell, sore throat, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting or diarrhea) please do not attend.
