R. David Scott, 80 of Paoli, passed away on February 24, 2023 at IU Hospice House of Bloomington. He was born September 29, 1942 in Louisville, KY to Roy L. and Mildred (Sidebottom) Scott. They preceded him in death as well as siblings, Barbara Ann Scott, Robert L. Scott, William Scott, Susan Willis and Fred A. Scott. He was a graduate of Leavenworth High School in Leavenworth KS. David served in the U.S. Army from 1964 to 1966. He married the love of his life Regina "Gina" Hazelwood Scott on June 3, 1967, and she survives. From this union they had two sons, Jeffrey David Scott (Dawn) of Junction City, OR and Ricky J. Scott (Linda) of Cheyenne, WY; grandson- Ryan David Scott of Junction City, OR. He’s also survived by four sisters: Alene Haynes of Mitchell, Donna Moore (David) of Henryville and Kathy Scott-Crane of Bedford. His "outlaws" Everett Hazelwood (Kathy), Judy Hazelwood Gilliatt (Dennis), Tony Hazelwood (Sparky), Dennis Hazelwood (Lisa), Rosie Carnes Hazelwood Hammons, Theresa Hazelwood Meister (Paul) & Marti Hazelwood. Also preceding him in death are two brother-n-laws, Edward Haynes and Brad Crane.
David was hired by the Federal Bureau of Prisons in August 1972. He spent the next 20 years crisscrossing the country. He started in Leavenworth KS and retired from FCI Chicago in 1992 as a contract oversight specialist. David's career did not end there; after retiring to Springfield, MO, he spent 12 years with Greene County Sheriff's Department retiring in December 2007. He and Gina then traveled and enjoyed their retirement. David was an avid animal lover and the biggest Oregon Ducks fan in Indiana. He was proud of his Native American Heritage and was a member of the Cherokee Nation.
Funeral Mass will be 11am Saturday, March 25 at Christ the King Catholic Church of Paoli. Visitation will be from 9:30-10:55am Saturday, March 25 at Christ the King Catholic Church Parish Hall. Cremation was chosen for R. David Scott. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to Orange County Humane Society, P.O.
